The thoughts underlying this song are found in Jeremiah 31:18-20, 33-34. This inspiration was confirmed in further reading in 2 Samuel 7:20-29; Jeremiah 32:17; Ezekiel 20:5-7,11,18-19,33-38,41-44; and Proverbs 16:9. (King James Bible Authorized Version)The sovereignty of the Lord God and the awareness that He holds the reins steering my life are confirmed in all He has revealed. "...A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven."
I sought to write lyrics to and sing the song, but found no words could possibly be better than those given by the Lord for our consideration: "Turn thou me, and I shall be turned, for thou art the Lord my God".
It struck me upon further thought that the song thematically has kinship with Bunyan's "Pilgrim's Progress". The main theme repeated several times shows that once the Lord has issued His call to you, you are going to answer that call and be drawn ever closer to Him, to be with Him forever at last (even though you may stumble, suffer setbacks, be waylaid along the path He has set before you to bring you to Himself.)
This was recorded digitally in glorious four channel stereo on a BOSS MicroBR recorder using its resident rhythm tracks edited (as required) with four separate guitar parts played by Chris Klinges on a Fender Stratocaster guitar. (To quote my college roomie, guitar maestro Vaughn Sunseri, "The Fender Stratocaster is an AMAZING machine.")
