Remembering My Father (Skipping Stones)
by Christopher Klinges (Almost Music Productions) music copyright 2006, lyrics copyright 2015

When I was a little boy
My daddy taught me and my brother how to skip stones
Across the bayou at my grandmom's house
In Louisianna, and that day lives on in me.

On the way to the water he said gather up stones
That are round, and flat, and smooth
Then he made us believe that with a flick of our wrists
We could make stones skip on water on the ripples of our faith.

Chorus:
That day gone
Still lives on
In the love
Forever bestowed from heaven above
And that love lives on in me.

Instr.

My dad taught us that by faith in his words
Stones that really oughta sink could skip across the water
And the ripples of that faith still spread like those from skipping stones;
Like the spirit of HIS love ever living in my heart

Chorus:

By teaching us important lessons of life
My father with love bestowed blessings on his sons
And time that might seem gone forever lives on
In the bond of love eternal between father and son

He taught us the pleasure of being prepared
And of learning to do things right
To treasure the lessons handed down to us
And to never forget that day.

I can't forget, no I can't forget, no I'll never forget that day
Because the love lives on, I know it truly lives on, the love lives on in me.
