Christians rejoice in the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Belief in it comes as a gift of God, but there is more evidence of the historical event than for most other events from history for which we give credence based upon contemporary accounts and evidence from subsequent events.
I was invited to doubt the truth of the Resurrection by a "friend" just before my twenty-first birthday. At the time I was basically agnostic; having fallen away from any formal religious practice, and self-righteously certain of my convenient moral code as sufficient to impress any deity that cared to reward me for "goodness". Nonetheless, I found I could not deny the Bible accounts of what the Lord did and why. It was a moment of spiritual transformation I shall never forget when I declared to my friend that he was wrong, and that the Lord did in fact die on the cross and did rise again from the dead as it is written. That confession of belief, which I was empowered to make by the grace of God at that moment, is of everlasting consequence for me, and I continually give thanks to God for His favor to me, determined by Him for me and all of my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus the Lord for all time from before the foundation of the world.
I share here some verses related to the pivotal moment for mankind in time, when the world, hell and death were overcome by the Lord.
If you have never had time or interest in considering the matter, please appreciate that the Lord rewards those who seek Him. Take some time you might devote to other passions, and see if the Lord will grace devotion to Him (even if undertaken only as an experiment out of curiosity.) If you are His, joyful surprises aplenty await along the steps he has determined for you.
John 6:29 KJV "Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent."
