The account of our Savior's birth
(Matthew 21:16 KJV “…Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?”)
The shepherds believed what the angel told them.
They obeyed the angel's command and "they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger."
What they saw -- the promise of God, God Himself Incarnate; the expectation of Israel and of all mankind -- confirmed what they knew from prophecy:
Isaiah 7:14 (and Matthew 1:23). "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.")
And when the shepherds had seen it, "they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child."
They couldn't keep it to themselves. It IS too wonderful.
Rejoice! Rejoice!
A Gift that keeps on giving:
"Come Thou Long Expected Jesus"
A dear friend, and dear sister in the Lord, shared this Christmas carol with me, and it has been a great blessing ever since. It speaks faithfully of "the two advents" of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Even as we thank the Lord everyday for coming into the world to save us; even as we thank the Lord every moment for abiding in us and with us (as He promised), we can look forward with expectation to His return in glory and say, "Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus."
"The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you..."
May the Lord richly bless you in love and peace.
